The morphological features of the otoliths in the six hairtail were summarized as follows:
There were marked differences between the left and right otoliths in the six hairtail. The left side is usually smaller than the right side.
There were differences in the shape and size of otoliths among the six hairtail. The size and shape of the otoliths were related to the fish body size.
The dorsal and ventral sides of the otoliths showed wavy protrusions or serrated leaf shaped crystal protrusions. The ventral side was smoother than the dorsal side.
The otolith was provided with a main interproximal groove; the groove extended from the front end to the rear end of the otolith; the groove in the front end was obvious, and became shallower with backward extension. The front end of the otolith contained a base leaf and a wing leaf. The base leaf was longer than the wing leaf, sharp in the front end. There was no base leaf at the back end of the otolith but a leaf-like protrusion.
The longitudinal section of otolith grinding was nearly arc-shaped, with center at the intersection of the middle depression of the arc, and outward radiating cracks from the center. A regular alternating growth zone of transparent broad band and dark narrow band was formed around the center of otolith to the edge of otolith, which was regarded as the basis for age determination.
The growth direction of otolith of hairtail was along the long axis of otolith, and along the transverse direction. For the six species, the mean growth direction of otolith was from the front to the back. The otolith of hairtail was long and thin, and it was straight in the middle of the otolith, which was similar to the general shape of otolith of other fish. The main growth direction of otolith was nearly perpendicular to the vertical axis of otolith. There was no obvious correlation between the growth direction of otolith and the axis of otolith, and the growth direction of otolith was nearly parallel to the axis of otolith. The center of the otolith was the region where the growth direction of otolith changed rapidly, and was the base of crystal or the base of crack, and it was the sharp spot in the otolith. The growth direction of otolith was the most uniform in S. japonicus and G. prionurus. The growth direction of otolith was the most irregular in M. grandis, and the growth direction was most acute in S. selaris.
I am running a PC with Windows 7 and Adobe Photoshop CS6. I am wondering how to end the trial period and convert to a full copy of Photoshop CS6. I tried closing down Photoshop, which produced a message telling me to return the disk. I did that, but the same message returned. How can I end this?
