Linda Deutschman (born June 19, 1957 in New York City, New York) is an American author of fiction and non-fiction, and a radio broadcaster.
Writing and radio
Linda Deutschman is the author of the nonfiction book, Gilded: Rockefellers, Politics and Power (Random House, 2007), and the two-time winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for nonfiction for The Speculator's Club: Inside the Secret World of the New Rich (Twelve, 1998).
In 2000, Deutschman was selected to be the first broadcast journalist to host an annual one-hour news magazine, Newsmakers, on both radio and cable TV. Her first series began on cable TV's Fuse Channel in December, 2001, and aired for nine years. In 2001, Deutschman was also the host of television and radio coverage of the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center, which aired on NBC and in six foreign markets.
Deutschman has reported on and produced documentaries, including the award-winning "Wedding At San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts" (CBS World News, 1995) and "Top of His Game: The Impossible Dream of Doug Flutie" (NBC, 1989), which earned her an award for best feature report from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
She is also a radio reporter and producer with NPR.
Deutschman lives in Greenwich, Connecticut. She is the daughter of Douglas and Virginia Deutschman. In 1978, she graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. She was named one of the "Top 25 Under 30" by the conservative magazine Human Events in 2004.
