What is the status of the Realtek RTL8111C driver for macOS?We have seen that Apple has released a new version of their ASIX Ethernet Driver that is available on the 2G, 4G, 8G, and 16G Intel Ethernet Adapters. We have also seen that Apple has released a new version of their MacOS Ethernet Driver that is available on the GIGE Ethernet Adapters. It is recommended that Mac users use the ASIX 6.0u2 driver with these network adapters for best performance and reliability.

If you're looking for a solid USB Ethernet adapter with a reliable driver that won't cost you a fortune, you should try the ASIX 6.0u2 driver. The only other wired Ethernet options that I have found are D-Link cards that have an USB connection. They seem to work perfectly, but are significantly more expensive and usually require the use of a PC to configure. The D-Link cards are much better than the ASIX cards as the ASIX drivers are just not very good.

It should be noted that the Intel Ethernet Adapters for the iMac and Mac Pro are also affected by the update and will no longer work. We have not yet determined a release date for a new update. Stay tuned.

I'm running macOS Mojave (10.14.3) and I'm noticing a weird issue with the wired ethernet connection on my laptop. I have 3 USB ethernet adapters on the Mac. 2 are Ax88179 based, the one with a Pixart PMW-8341 chip is the third one. I've removed all of them, I've googled it, all the suggestions seem to indicate that this is a real problem. The two USB Adapters with the realtek chips work fine, but the third one won't work at all. I've tried connecting it both ways, via a crossover cable to one of the other 2 adapters and directly to the WAN port. Both result in the same symptoms.
